Unit shown is an example of units available and is offered subject to prior sale. The Class 142 Pacer diesel multiple unit is well proven on the UK rail network, having been in service since 1985. The class has seen a number of improvements over its operational lifetime; vehicles were fitted with new Voith transmission by late 1991, and new Cummins engines between 1993 and 1996. Various of the class were refurbished between 1997 – 2003 and 2008 – 2017.
Lightweight, with an axle loading of 12.5 tonnes, the units are made with a steel underframe and aluminium alloy body and roof.
Each unit has a seating capacity of any number between 102 and 121 passengers per two-car set, some seats having been removed for additional wheelchair access on some vehicles. Vehicles are connected by a flexible diaphragm (within unit only), have a public address system, and one toilet per unit is provided.
Class 142 Pacers are interoperable with other Sprinters, Pacers and Turbostars.
